Ulithorne ‘PROSPERA’ Shiraz 2014 – ALLOCATION SOLD OUT

Ulithorne PROSPERA Shiraz 2014Tasting Notes:
It is a wine that celebrates the elegance & intensity of flavours that old bush vine Shiraz can bring to the table. With spice & ripe cherries on the nose, driving length of blood plums and an elegantly weighted palate, the flavours are balanced with soft tannins. An example of old bush vines, thoughtful viticulture & a dedication to winemaking detail.

Hand picked 5th March 2014
Cooled as whole bunches overnight, then crushed the next morning, with fermentation in small open fermenters. Gentle hand plunging twice a day. Basket Pressed to barrels. Aged in 2-5 year old French oak barrels for 17 months.

“Loose knit, plush and funky/modern. Delicious drinking, and this is something for everybody. Has concentration, plunging depth and power all melded with deliciously unforced silky structure. This could be the best Mclaren Vale Shiraz we’ve tried in a very long time.”   97 points – Andrew Caillard MW

“Primarily from Ulithorne’s 65yo dry-grown vineyard in Blewitt Springs, hand-picked, cooled overnight, open-fermented, basket-pressed to used French oak for 17 months. Manages to up the tempo of Familia without falling prey to Parkerism. Both black and blue fruits join hands with a touch of regional chocolate, the tannins fine in best Blewitt Springs style, oak no more than a conveyance.” 95 points – James Halliday Wine Companion 2017
