Frux Frugis (Latin interpretation – Fruit of the Earth) was the first wine made under the Ulithorne label in 2001. The namesake vineyard was planted in 1969 by the Harrison Family on the heavy soils on the Northern aspect of the elevated slopes of the Onkaparinga River in the McLaren Vale region of South Australia. Today the Frux Frugis has evolved from single vineyard form to expand the palate and bouquet and capture the quintessence of low yielding old vine parcels of our own Ulithorne vineyards and selected growers.
Variety & Style
A superlative, textural and gravelly McLaren Vale shiraz whose dense, deeply packed presence of black and red berries and plums reveals meaty, cracked pepper and graphite-like undertones. It’s long and pristine, delivering a seamless depth of flavour that soaks up its fresh oak and moves effortlessly over its drying, crunchy spine before finishing long, savoury and mineral with a mouthwatering acidity.
