Avitus (Latin interpretation – Ancestral, old vines). The purpose for this wine was essentially to provide softer, rounded and more Rhone like Shiraz to be blended into the FRUX FRUGIS. A portion of the batch, due to its unique and impressive style, was kept aside and made a label of its own. Sourced from a single vineyard from the Southern aspect, influenced by the cooling gulf breezes in the McLaren Vale region of South Australia.
Variety & Style
Shiraz 93% Cabernet 7%.
This elegant wine exhibits aromas of vanilla, cedar, plums, and blackberries with hints of cured meats, mocha, and anise. A refined and taut structure with chalky tannins and persistent length. It has a beautiful savoury palate with black olives, dark berries, and bitter dark chocolate.
