2 bottles x 2015 ‘Frux Frugis’ Shiraz

‘Frux Frugis’ is Latin for ‘fruit of the earth’ and individually sourced from the finest parcels of Shiraz on the old vines of Ulithorne Vineyards.

This wine presents a full palate of rich ripe plums and blackberries, dark spices like cloves and star anise, some chocolate, inkiness, and cedary oak. There is a grand weight, exceptional length, and slight bitterness with lots of tannins. This vintage of Frux Frugis shows the reward in which wonderful weather and well-tended vines can bring to a wine. Our Frux Frugis is individually numbered.

“Old vines in a single vineyard with low yields. The bouquet makes me think of the River Styx, dark and impenetrable, the full-bodied palate’s power and liquid intensity coming as a shock. No light feminine touch here, and why should there be. It is a remarkable wine of very high quality, piling on the flavour as its length extends inexorably.” 97 points – James Halliday

2 bottles x 2015 ‘Avitus’ Shiraz

Hand picked and hand plunged, the Avitus Shiraz 2015 was created from a special old vine single vineyard parcel of Shiraz that has been locked away for the long term, from one of our Grower’s very old vineyard in McLaren Vale.

Blackberries and cassis, with hints of raspberries & vanilla. Some cedary oak as well. Elegant with great palate length and a tight structure, dark fruit persists.

“Hand-picked from a very old vineyard, cooled overnight, crushed, open-fermented, matured in new and used French hogsheads for 20 months. You are greeted by a bouquet shrieking of its regional origin, the palate more calmly sending the same message. The tannin management is a medium to full-bodied weight of the wine, providing delivering structure in a civilised fashion.” 96 points – James Halliday

2 bottles x 2015 ‘Unicus’ Shiraz

Hand picked, hand plunged, basket pressed, the Unicus Shiraz 2015 was created from a special single vineyard parcel of McLaren Vale Shiraz fruit that just could not be ignored. When we see and taste exceptional, one of a kind fruit, then it excites us to pick, take care of and bring to your glass, an exceptional wine.

This powerful Shiraz that shows illuminating purity of plums, black currants and a touch of cedar. Spicy clove and black pepper on the nose supported by red and black currant perfume, with a length and drive of well structured tannins to allow the Unicus to cellar well. Bottles are individually numbered.

“Hand-picked, hand-plunged, basket-pressed, low yields. A heavyweight bottle like Avitus. Bright, deep hue; this is a full-bodied wine that nonetheless has a certain lightness of touch. Licorice, dark chocolate and spice form a garland around the vibrant dark fruits. Tannins and oak are in play, but of far lesser importance.” 96 points – James Halliday
