Ulithorne ‘NOVA DUO’ Grenache Shiraz (Fresh Wine) 2018

NOVA DUO: fresh two

This fresh wine is bright red with purple hues, and has lifted aromas of strawberry and cherry with violet notes. The palate is vibrant and fresh with cherries, red fruits and spices. The fine, chewy tannins have great length and a crispy acid line.

The Source

Single Vineyard – Ulithorne Kays Road – Grenache Shiraz

The Process

Handpicked Grenache and Shiraz from our 1950’s Kays Road vineyard was blended in the vineyard for co-fermentation in one small open fermenter.  Plunged three times daily before being gently pressed and filled to seasoned French Oak barrels for the final stages of ferment and MLF. Short maturation period (approximately 3 months) in oak then racked, coarsely filtered and bottled.

“Combining fruit richness and refined structure, this stylish Rhone blend shows lifted aromas of cranberry, dark plum, floral, warm spice and olive on the nose, leading to a beautifully weighted palate that is supple and fleshy. The wine offers fruit purity together with elegant savoury nuances, finishing lingering and silky.” 94 points – Wine Orbit NZ
