Both the Cabernet and Shiraz for this blend came from the oldest blocks of vines on our vineyard. The vineyard crops low and gives us very consistent quality from year to year. We believe the blend of Cabernet and Shiraz produces a harmonious blend and it is a tribute to the blend that Australia’s wine industry was founded on.
The punchy Cabernet fruit is dominant, aromatic with mulberry, a touch a tobacco leaf and char. The palate has great depth from the blend of varieties, this wine is a keeper.
‘Paternus’ is Latin for ‘from the father’ and is a dedication to Sam’s father Frank Harrison who planted the Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz on the family’s Ulithorne vineyard in 1971.
